Centering Pregnancy offers group approach to prenatal careBy Ellie Bogue, ebogue@news-sentinel.com Friday, March 18, 2016 12:00 AM Parkview Medical Health is offering a new way for women to approach pregnancy, called Centering. Centering Pregnancy is a new way of approaching prenatal care. It includes a woman's regular check-ups and also offers learning and sharing in a group environment for women who are due around the same time. Currently there are three Ob/GYN doctors participating. Sessions are held on approximately a monthly basis. Women in the group check in, are weighted, have their vitals checked and meet with the doctor. Then as a group they meet and can share and discuss any concerns they are having with their pregnancy. Most of the sessions feature a guest speaker. Topics include, family health, diet, physical therapy, massage therapist, yoga/wellness consultant, Doula/labor/birth planner, lactation, safe sleep and postpartum depression. After they all deliver their babies they get together for a postpartum wellness check and party where they can talk about their birthing experience or any concerns they have had since the birth.
