Southwest Georgia receives grant funding from Healthcare Georgia FoundationALBANY — The Southwest Public Health District received a grant recently from the Healthcare Georgia Foundation of $150,000 for the purpose of improving birth outcomes in the region, while $50,000 was also awarded for lupus support in Southwest Georgia. As part of that, the Foundation awarded grant funding to three evidence-based approaches as part of the Taking Care of You initiative that targets adverse birth outcomes in Valdosta, Clayton County and Albany. In Southwest Georgia, this has included the efforts of Centering Pregnancy, which has sites in Dougherty and Colquitt counties and focuses on prenatal care and family planning for women in need.
