Hi all. I have a question regarding a new employee that comes to us trained in Centering. We have a copy of all Basic and Advanced facilitation training certificates for all that have been trained. One of our new employees has had basic training in the last 5-7 years at through another facility. She does not have a copy of her certificate. Is this something CHI keeps on file by chance?

Hi Patricia, I think it is great that you keep your facilitator training certificates on file. Just to clarify, CHI does not provide certificates of completion for graduates of our basic or advanced facilitation workshops. We do provide CE certificates immediately after a workshop for those who request them but this is only a subset of the many participants in our workshops. I'm assuming that this is what you are keeping on file for your staff. If her training was 5-7 years ago her CE record would be in very deep storage off-site and not readily accessible to us.
Given your interest in hiring and maintaining Centering certified staff (which makes us very happy), you may be interested to learn that we will be launching a true Centering certification program later in 2017. The program is designed to deliver a Certified Centering Facilitator credential to those who complete basic and advanced facilitation training, have facilitated a requisite number of Centering group sessions, and complete an online learning session. Precise details are still being ironed out so look for more information on this over the next 6 months or so.

Thank you for your feedback. It is greatly appreciated. And yes, it is the CE certificate. I was under the impression we as a facility needed copies of them on file.
So if someone does not have the CE certificate but says they've had the training, is there another way to verify? I do not doubt this person has done Centering, but want to make sure I am doing what is needed for our site as the coordinator.
Thanks again!

At this time there is no reliable way to verify that someone has completed any of the facilitation training workshops except for the In-House Trainer Prep. Our record keeping around workshop attendance has been very spotty and focused mainly on ensuring that we are adhering to CE requirements. Most of those records are paper and we only hold them for a few years. We have some registration records in our database and you should contact your Practice Services Manager and have them look up the name to see if they can find it but don't be surprised if they can't.
One of the benefits of implementing a certification program is that it will require us to keep accurate electronic attendance records for our workshops. Eventually, we envision providing a database of all certified facilitators that our sites can access to do just what you are doing.
