For those facilities that are going to adopt or have adopted telemedicine to replace group visits, how are you achieving the belly, BP and weight check? women can track their weights at home. And I suppose fetal kick counts can sub for the fetal dop tones, but how can you check fundal heights and blood pressure? Home BP cuffs can be expensive, especially with so many out of work. Thank you,

Thank you. We are very interested in trying to leverage using the EPIC/MyChart platform with iphones/ipads to do telehealth for groups. The clinics at UC Health (the affiliated health system of the University of Cincinnati) are currently using this platform for 1 on 1 visits. I've reached out to our internal EPIC partners for help. I'm not sure if they will have the bandwidth to help so I wanted to reach out to everyone here.
Take good care, everyone!

hi, Zoom and Adobe Connect (and Webex) can all work. Fairly simple to set up and send a link for others to join. If your patients have computers, internet/phone to connect, it can work for now. Could be fun to share what's cooking in the kitchen, or favorite recipes, or Sibling Singing, or whatever you can imagine as families come in from home. I'd keep the sessions much short, like 15 min segments for an hour and of course do an Opening and Closing. Hope to see/hear about some neat reports here! Kathy Trotter

Is anyone using Skype? I'm wondering if there are any stipulations to using this for group as opposed to zoom?

Our system is still seeing Centering patients in group but with less frequent visits for routine uncomplicated patients utilizing the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine pre-release routine uncomplicated schedule, regular session frequency for high risk patients and additional 1:1 visits as needed. We are however shortening sessions to focus on primarily provider assessments with opportunities to socialize and discuss topics during those assessments. After the assessments are complete we end the group and would like to give a handout focusing on topics we would cover with references to the Centering handbook. At this time our system despite HHS policy changes does not allow for group televisits like Zoom, etc.
Do any of you have a handout you already use for each session like this? Alternatively has anyone ever recorded a group using "actors" for the different sessions like a YouTube video of each session that we could also direct our patients to?
So glad we have this format to talk to each other, Carena (in Waco, TX)

Hi All,
How are people doing the Confidentiality agreement that is typically signed at the beginning of a group in the virtual setting? Are you having group members make a verbal agreement during the virtual group, or having them sign it during an in person visit?
Thanks! Emily

Hi Emily,
If you go to your dashboard, located in "My Portal", you'll see a list of Resources on the right-hand side. On the bottom of that list, you'll see a link for Forms used in Centering. You'll find a PDF of the Confidentiality form. I downloaded and email it to our patients. They fill it out and email it back.
This is the PDF:

I am interested in Centering because: ...it's about relationships and support being recognized as an essential component of health & Healthcare. The lasting connections created during the transformational year of pregnancy is an invaluable asset for new parents.

Hello! I typed up my notes from my share on the COVID Conversations Zoom Call today with Lynn. I hope there are some things that might be useful in figuring out how to manage virtual Centering groups. Facilitating Virtual Centering groups.pdf (55.02 KB) Jo Koumouitzes, MPH I think you were asking for this on the call today, Jo. I do not have official workflows but this is my brain dump for the subject.
