Recent published reports and early research highlight the impact recent changes in U.S. immigration enforcement are having on birth outcomes within the Latinx community. The recent rules and issues surrounding "public charge" are affecting the way immigrant families seek and utilize healthcare services. We are starting this thread in the hopes of sharing best practices, information and resources that can be helpful in educating, supporting and empowering your patient populations. As we recently learned, Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Maryland has been working closely with the Latinx community in their area to gather and provide resources for their patient populations. The center shares immigration handouts in Spanish, directs patients to local immigrant resource centers like the Esperanza Center and Casa De Maryland and also worked with an advocate who was a Centering patient. Handouts are attached. kyr_non-citizen_card_spanish_v1_print.pdf (978.64 KB) ilrc-red_card_template-spanish-v2.pdf (89.73 KB) KYR-New-V2.1Spanish.pdf (4.04 MB) We would love to hear how you are supporting your Centering groups and would like to invite you to share your resources and tips here.
